I met a girl from Detroit last week. Her description of Detroit’s economic situation matches this article’s. She said people are setting up their own urban gardens, growing food. I asked how they got around zoning / health regulations that normally prevent that sort of behavior. She said it’s so destitute there, law enforcement looks the other way.
