This is a wonderful example of the Musical method of the object punk. (okay enough with my code inspired object oriented writing).
Here is a guy who wrote a song, people loved it, listened to it and now Paul performs it. But when he plays it, the artist, the him of that sentence, barely exists. The experience of that song transformed into a collective activity where each person has internalized the song and performs it. Each person has been activated, the music is no longer performed on them, they are not subjected to Pauls sonic whims, rather each person makes it their own and the sum of that ownership is given back to paul.
If that seems oddly worded and poorly written it is because i was thinking it out as i wrote it.
